Obtaining a Visa for Germany
EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany. Generally speaking, all other foreigners require a visa for stays in Germany. Please familiarize yourself with the visa regulations and obtain a visa as soon as possible; processing can take several weeks.
Typically, you will have to approach the German embassy in your country to obtain a visa. The German Federal Foreign Office has set up a website with definitive information regarding visas and frequently asked questions.
In order to obtain a visa, the embassy may ask you to provide an invitation letter. The procedure to obtain the invitation letter is as follows:
- Fill out and submit the registration form.
- Pay the full registration amount via bank/wire transfer or by sending the credit card form to us. We can only issue invitation letters after we have received the registration fee.
- Send an e-mail to sec2015@ifipsec.org and request an invitation letter. Please include your full name as printed on your passport, your nationality, the passport number, and your SEC Registration ID.
- We will issue a signed invitation letter (typically within 48 hours) and send it to you via e-mail.
Accomodation in Hamburg
We recommend to book your accomodation as soon as possible. We expect availability of rooms to become very tight in the weeks before the conference.
The following hotels are closest to the conference venue: Radisson Blu, Grand Elysee, Hotel Amsterdam, Hotel Wagner, Hotel am Dammtor, Hotel Vorbach (visit this Google Map for an overview).
Moreover, we have reserved a number of single and double rooms in a number of hotels at preferential rates. Note that the reserved rooms cannot be booked online, but only by directly contacting the hotel. You have to cite the special offer code "SEC 2015" during booking. The rooms can be booked either via e-mail (please include arrival and departure dates, desired type of room, your name, the billing address, and the offer code) or via phone.
